Helpful Online Dating Advice For Christians

By Peggy Edwards

As a Christian, we may have different opinions on online dating advice compared to those that are non-Christians. When you are still new in the online dating scene and you feel like you have no idea on how you can start dating, then it may be a good idea to read Christian dating advice articles coming from people who have more experience that you do.

Below are some helpful online dating tips coming from Christians who have their own experiences about Christian dating.

Be truthful in your profile. After all, you want other people to see who you are through this profile. If you say that you are an Olympic athlete just because you know that can easily attract other people to you, then you are not attracting people because you are you, but you are attracting them to a fake you. Be honest to your brothers and sisters in Christ.

You should not post "provocative" pictures in your profile. Even though you joined a very good Christian website, there are still people who may have the wrong impression on you based on that provocative picture and may end up wanting to meet up with you for all the wrong reasons. Remember, in dating your fellow church goers, you have to respect each other and prancing your body in a rather hormonally "stimulating" way is not a great way to win the respect of your brethren.

Speaking of meeting up, there is now what some secular internet dating sites call "sexual eyeball" or SEB for short. Do not, in any way, participate in such rendezvous.

Also, about the same topic of meeting each other up, if the person you want to meet has already said that they are not yet comfortable to meet you personally, do not persist. Respect his or her decision and do not push it. This will only lead you to most likely losing an online friend.

Have the courtesy to reply to each and every one that tries to contact you. It's the right thing to do. Even if, after reading his or her profile, you find out that you are not interested at him or her, then be courageous enough to say that you appreciate his or her interest but you feel that you may not be the person he or she is looking for. This way, you can avoid having someone message you multiple times by telling him or her on the onset that you are not interested, in a very polite and courteous way of course.

If you are at the other end of this "courteous" let down, then accept his or her decision and do not take it against this person. Do not "flame" or send him the wrong signals and probably the best Christian online dating advice will be to treat whomever that you talk to on these online dating sites as brothers and sisters in Christ. Be polite, respectful, honest and pleasant just for beginners.
